WE HAVE  RECENTLY BEEN INVOLVED IN  A NUMBER OF COMMUNITY PROJECTS  IN BAILDON

HOYLE COURT SCHOOL

The Society was approached by Mrs Thirkill the Head teacher at the school to ask for our help in bringing four unused flower and vegetable beds back into use after several years of neglect. So a group of volunteersRuth Addinell, Ann Whitehead and Faye Hatton joined Catherine Dunn, Simon Long, Charlotte Martin and Dawn Tinsley and planted some sunflowers, sweet peas and borage to the flower bed, French beans, courgettes, pumpkins and tomatoes to the vegetable bed and thanks to Robin Weedon and Louise Mallinson from Baildon Horticultural Society for donating fruit trees and bushes and to those who donated tools ...... the beds are now blooming !

BAILDON TELEPHONE BOXES

Two of the telephone boxes in Baildon, one by the Junction Pub and the other in Station Road by the Post Office where both in a sad state of repair. The Junction Box also has been landscaped around the box has been planted with planting that relates too brewing and botanicals used in spirits. Hops and Jasminum will grow up the rails. The beds are planted with Blackthorn (sloes) Rosemary, Yarrow, Achillea and Rosa Rugosa (rosehip). The planting once established should make this area an attractive green space and showcase the box which is a classic British design icon. The Station Road Box has had it's glass replaced and a complete new paint job and is now a mini greenhouse. with seasonal planting throughout the year
